Why Busy Bloggers Need an Offline Editor
A busy blogger’s best friend is an offline editor. Trust me when I tell you it will make your life more simple. My weapon of choice is Windows Live Writer. As someone who juggles dozens of blogs for several clients, I’m here to tell you your productivity will increase once you download one of these puppies With an offline editor you can:
- Use the same dashboard for each of your blogs without having to leave the page. Simply use the drop down menu to switch to a new blog.
- Post ahead of time. When I can, I blog a week’s worth of posts at one time and just let ‘er drip.
- Use the WYSIWYG template in the same manner in which you’d use a word processor.
- Post video and go back in and edit without screwing up the code.
- Have more image placement, sizing and design options.
- Post offline when you don’t have access to the Internet and set up your post to publish at another time.
As I said above, I like Windows Live Writer. It’s open all day on my desk top and put it to good use. Other choices are Blog Desk and for Mac users, Mars Edit. It’s been so long since I logged into some of my WordPress dashes I actually lost the password, it’s that helpful.
Do you use a offline editor? If so, which one and why?

I use Windows Live Writer also. It’s way more convenient and flexible than the WordPress WYSIWYG editor. I love their display options for viewing a post that I’m writing, and I also like the convenience of not having to be online just to write down my thoughts.
I’m doing the trial of MarsEdit now. It’s helpful, but the button to send to the weblog is way too sensitive. Click anywhere near there and off your post goes. That’s why I always set the date first.
Also, I don’t like adding tags in MarsEdit because it tries to fill in what you’re going to type (kind of like Word does sometimes). I need to look into turning that off.
Overall though, it’s much faster than logging in at the network.
I frequently blog from my Nokia N800 Tablet and using Wordpy to write posts offline for later publishing has been a godsend. It is actually one of the first applications I installed and I consider it one of my Top 3. I don’t know what I would do without it, it is actually one of the main reasons I love my Internet Tablet.
I currently use Windows Live Writer and have found it just amazing. It is so easy to use and with my various blogs, I can move back and forth in a snap.
Well worth the time to download and try it out!
