Taking Your Blog to the Next Level with Radio
I’m not going to do this too often, I promise. I won’t spam you with stuff from my day job.
I wrote a post today at BlogTalkRadio featuring 7 Reasons to Take Your Blog to the Next Level with Radio and I thought it might interest many of you. If you’re looking for new ways to promote your brand, build community and talk more about topics that interest you, radio is a good way to do it.
Anyway, it’s something to consider. What do you think of using radio for blogs? Is it something you could do? I was nervous about using video and it worked out well. I think radio will be fun too. In fact, I’ll probably be on the air soon - but more about that at another time. Many bloggers don’t want to appear on video, is radio better for the anonymity factor? I’d love to know your thoughts.

Some questions popped in to my head while reading your tips:
1) What benefit does radio offer that a blogger cannot get through podcasting?
2) Does it cost money to get on the radio? If so, how much?
3) Do you need specialized technical knowledge to be a talk show host? If so, is it the sort of stuff you could learn in an afternoon?
Hi Fern -
With Blog Talk Radio all you need is a phone. It’s free. All you do is sign up as a host. It takes about ten minutes to get yourself started. You can schedule a regular weekly thing or a one off show - and there are great people available to help.
You need absolutely no technical knowledge, really. When I say anyone can do this, I mean it.
I’m very interested in all of it: radio, video, podcasting. I’d like to incorporate it all in my blog but don’t really know where to start. Your response to Fern’s comment was very helpful.
Can you recommend a video editing program for total beginners?
