Do You Have A Dream Paid Blog Topic?

If you could choose a paid dream blog topic, which blog topic would that be?

I’m lucky; I’m paid to blog about most of my favorite topics already. However, I also wouldn’t mind blogging about single parenting, because it’s something I think about every day. I don’t however, have the time to start a single mama blog on my own. I’d have to find a paid single mama blogging gig.

I actually applied for a single mama blog gig not too long ago; but the potential client didn’t think I was single enough. He said I wouldn’t work because I wasn’t divorced single, just single. I said, but I was never married, how could I be divorced? I’m still a single mama. He said, being a divorced single parent is different, because it’s legal, women relate to that better than never married singles.

HUH? I swear, some people.

Anyways… no big, because I can’t help people like this anyhow. Still, single parenting would be my dream topic of choice in a paid gig.

What about you? What do you wish you were paid to blog about?

In my perfect world, I, too, would get paid for what I’m already blogging about. There are so many women geeks in the world - I want to put them in touch with each other. Of course, if I were paid to do it, I’d be able to spend a helluva lot more time doing that, time that I just can’t dedicate now because of my paycheck-chasing work.

Second choice would be to blog about technology itself, but not the latest iPhone/gadget/xbox/ps3 kinda stuff. What about tech women could build for themselves? I’d want to blog about that stuff - but then again, that leads back to what I’m already doing!

Hee, that reasoning for why you weren’t single enough was hilarious.

Anyway, my dream blogging job would be about knitting. I write my own knitting blog that’s personal (and I don’t get paid for, obviously) but I’d love to write one where I get into the art & craft of it in depth, as well as all of the products, mags, blogs, trends, etc. involved.

That’s a bizarre reason for why you are supposedly not suited to blogging about being a single parent. Really bizarre.

My dream topic would be to answer people’s requests for advice. Sort of like a blogging version of “Dear Abby.”

Well that’s just odd. You’re either a single parent or you’re not. No two ways about it.

Well, I already get paid (indirectly) to blog about writing and about blogging, but it would be fun to be paid to blog about parenting and the Caribbean (as separate topics)

I’m a pretty big history nerd and, for some reason, am especially fascinated by British & French medieval history. So, my dream blogging job would be to write about that kind of thing. Imagine - not only getting paid for my nerdiness, but to find others who like that sort of thing too!

Semi-single mama here. I like all these dream topics. Very cool. I really like that advice idea Fern. That would be a cool blog. Or vlog. Now, if I could only get more single. Maybe if I divorced my non-married ex somehow - you know just as a formality.

PS Samantha, I know, getting paid to dish about your geeky stuff is fun. I love math, but a math blog is a long shot…

You could probably guess — cats!

Sounds like what he wanted was a “divorced” parent, rather than a “single” parent. Aren’t the issues the same?!

I get paid to blog about something that I’m passionate about — traveling! I think that makes me pretty lucky.

I get to blog about organizing small businesses. I’m truly a productivity/ organizational geek. Love it.

Another dream, though, would be just getting to write my personal blog with enough traffic to pay well. That would be my ultimate dream gig, I think.

@Peggy - cats, really? Yeah, I might have guessed that :)

@Mary Jo - hey you. I think that’s why I like your blog. I’m not really a travel or places blog reader type, but you’re so into your topics that it makes your blogs really interesting. Lucky for you and readers.

@Becky That’s cool. Personal blogs, at least journal types are harder to make $ on.
